The Climate Resilient and Sustainable Agriculture Project, commonly known as CRESAP, has been in operation for several years and has recently expanded its activities to the southern districts of Stann Creek and Toledo. The initiative is designed to support farmers by promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices while improving sustainability within local communities. One of the most attractive components of the project is its grant program, which provides qualifying farmers with access to funding of up to twelve thousand dollars to support their agricultural activities. Sunday March 15th, the CRESAP Project Steering Committee met with farmers from Barranco and the St. Vincent Block, also known as Cerro, to discuss the opportunities available through the program and to address questions from community members. While the project primarily targets indigenous communities, concerns were raised regarding whether East Indian and Creole farmers would also qualify for assistance. Mr. Warrior clarified that members of these communities are also considered eligible under the project’s criteria. The meeting was held at the Drum School in Cerro.
