Garbage on the rivers and highways is becoming a major problem.

Earth Day is coming up on April 22nd, so let us respect the environment. Yesterday there were several complaints into our newsroom about people disrespecting the environment. A new and pristine area in San Miguel that was recently discovered is already having garbage problem. San Miguel community is appealing to visitors to please keep it clean, if you bring in garbage, please take it back with you as there is no disposal facilities in the village. There is also a disturbing garbage site found not far from the police check point on the Jalacte Highway. Again, the community of Pueblo Viejo and Jalacte are appealing to the public to not destroy the beautiful highway with garbage.
