TIDE & Coast Guard Arrest Three Hondurans In Marine Reserve

Efforts to combat illegal fishing activities within Belize’s protected marine areas continue as a recent joint patrol carried out by TIDE and the Belize Coast Guard led to the arrest of three Honduran fishermen inside the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve. The men were reportedly caught conducting illegal fishing activities within Conservation Zone 4 and were charged with multiple fisheries and immigration-related offenses, including fishing without valid licenses and possession of fish fillets without the required skin patch. Authorities also confiscated their vessel, engine, equipment, and marine products as part of the enforcement operation.
