Road Infrastructure Works Still On Hold In Toledo

Road infrastructure continues to be a major issue in the Toledo District. In June of this year, the Joe Taylor Bridge was renamed the Michael Espat Bridge when it was reopened. At the time, PGTV spoke with an engineer from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing, who assured us that within weeks, the next big project would be to resurface the Southern Highway and to properly light and line the roads.

Two months later, however, there were no visible signs of work being done. Fortunately, we caught up with the area representative and another engineer, who again promised that work would commence in just a couple of days.

That latest interview was in August. Now, at the end of September, the situation remains unchanged, with no resurfacing, no lights, and no road markings. This raises the question: was all this just for political mileage? Or will the promised work really get done? If contracts have been signed, why is there still no progress on the ground? For now, our questions remain unanswered. PGTV will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as soon as they become available.
