Deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Santos Akal, who tragically lost his life in an accident believed to have been caused by a broken bridge in the Indianville area. Reports indicate that Mr. Akal fell from his bicycle while attempting to cross the deteriorated structure. Over the years, PGTV has repeatedly highlighted the urgent need for repairs to several unsafe bridges in the community, but those concerns appeared to go unanswered. Following this tragic incident, we understand that the Punta Gorda Town Council has moved to close the bridge and begin repair work.
