The Waterhole area in Cattle Landing Village, just outside Punta Gorda Town, has long been known as the community’s dumping site. For years, PGTV has continued to monitor and report on the condition of the area. Just a month ago, we visited and saw signs of cleanup, with garbage being burned, dumping areas pushed back, and what appeared to be preparations to finally use the modern waste disposal facility. However, those hopes were short-lived after we witnessed the town council’s garbage truck dumping waste behind the unused building. PGTV will continue to monitor developments at the Waterhole site and follow efforts to improve waste management in Cattle Landing Village.
