Fishing Tournament Held in Honor of Anselmo “Chemo” Cruz

As part of the September Celebrations in Punta Gorda Town, a fishing tournament was held yesterday, September 15th, in honor of Anselmo “Chemo” Cruz. Fishermen departed from the TIDE Wharf at 6 a.m. and returned at 3 p.m. Four teams competed in the tournament: Team Hook D, Team Daizy, Team Got Banana, and Team Alina Nicole. The prizes were as follows: $800 for first place, $500 for second place, and $200 for third place. Team Alina Nicole claimed both first and second place, catching the largest fish in pounds and the five fish with the most total weight. Team Daizy secured third place for catching six different varieties of fish.
