Graduation is a special milestone in the lives of students who have worked hard throughout the school year and are ready to celebrate their achievements. A key part of every graduation ceremony is the guest speaker, who offers words of encouragement and inspiration to the graduating class. Two weeks ago, the scheduled guest speaker for the Dolores Primary School graduation, Mr. Wil Maheia, was unable to attend because flooding had made the roads impassable. Although he could not be present, Mr. Maheia sent a message to the graduates, assuring them not to worry. He promised that while he might not be there on graduation day, he would return to celebrate with them soon. True to his word, Mr. Maheia visited Dolores two weeks later to honor the graduates. In an unusual but heartfelt celebration, he sponsored a barbecue for the students and their families, where he delivered his graduation address and congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments. The students were delighted by the special celebration and expressed their gratitude to Mr. Wil Maheia for keeping his promise and making the occasion a memorable one.
