Trio Farmers held 3rd Annual General Meeting.

Since the pandemic, many people have turned to farming and one such group is the Trio Cacao Growers. Trio is a village about 40 miles north of Punta Gorda Town and over the past few years Ya’axche Conservation Group have worked closely with them to organize and get their farming practices underway. Last Saturday they held their 3rd Annual General Meeting where they highlighted their achievements and challenges. Their main challenge continues to be the bad road conditions which makes it difficult for them to get their harvest out. But despite all that, they managed so far this year to harvest over 118,000 lbs of Cacao. This is over 100 thousand dollars to be shared among the farmers.
