Mrs. Celia Mahung receives James A. Waight Conservation Award.

The James A. Waight Award is a Conservation Award presented to individuals or organizations that have significantly contributed to Belize’s environment. The James A. Waight Award is presented annually in honor of one of the founding members of the Belize Audubon Society, Mr. James A. Waight. On Friday, the 37th Annual James A. Waight Award was held to recognize several organizations and individuals who have contributed significantly to protecting and conserving Belize’s environment. The Executive Director of TIDE, Mrs. Celia Mahung, was nominated and won the James A. Waight Award. For over a decade of service to TIDE, Mrs. Mahung was recognized with the prestigious award for leading, committing, and preserving the environment. She has spent most of her life empowering youth, implementing environmental projects, and promoting alternative lifestyles.
