FAMOUS DOLLAR COIN

For a few weeks now the people of Punta Gorda Town has been adamant about not allowing a gas station to be built at the dollar coin AKA the Y property.  People came out and protested against the development that would not only be an eyesore for PG but is also a danger to the neighbors and environment. This is an area where many people recreate and the chances of polluting the swimming and fishing areas are great.  The people objected and the government of Belize decided to listen. This morning, residents of PG were happy to see that the demolition of the building was in effect.  Members of the Toledo First group stated, “This is only a small victory and no need to celebrate yet. We need the government to cancel the permission to build a gas station on the said property.”  PGTV will keep following this story.
