Together We Save The Silk Caye

Saturday May 3rd, it was a vibrant parade of boats, a carnival-like journey to the Silk Caye. But why the Silk Caye? Just three years ago, the tiny island was on the brink of disappearing into the sea.

That’s when one community leader took a stand, rallying others with a message of unity: “Together, we can save this caye.” And they did, despite opposition from the government, which resisted intervention because the caye lies within a protected area.

Defying the odds and the authorities, the community came together and preserved this beloved spot. Last weekend’s celebration was a powerful reminder that when people unite around a cause, remarkable things can happen.
