To most people, the Orange-breasted Falcon may be just another bird, but to serious birders, it is considered one of the most precious and rare birds in the world. Across Central and South America, the population of these birds is estimated to be fewer than 100. The Toledo District is fortunate to have one of the highest populations in the region. That is why it was heartbreaking for many birders when they learned that an Orange-breasted Falcon had been shot somewhere in Columbia Village. The incident drew international attention, and Sarah Mann from Belize Bird Rescue came to assess the situation.
