Live Conch Confiscated Near Fishermen’s Island

The Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve enforcement team made an unusual discovery, an aquarium filled with live conch near a well-known fishermen’s island. According to authorities, this type of activity is prohibited under Belize’s Fisheries Law. A total of 154 conch were recovered, 82 mature and 72 juveniles. The enforcement team acted swiftly, relocating the live conch to the nearby Hunting Caye protected area.
