Barranco, a seaside village with significant agro-tourism potential, remains one of the most neglected communities in the country. Earlier this week, a farmers’ group from Barranco, known as Ligemeri Haruga Vanilla, hosted a training session focused on cultivating vanilla, a high-value crop that has minimal environmental impact. The session was led by Dawn Dean, a vanilla expert and Barranco resident. The group plans to hold several more training sessions throughout the year, with the goal of eventually producing vanilla for sale.
