Belizean social activist Jeremy Enriquez has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Elections and Boundaries Commission, seeking information on the progress of Belize’s long-awaited electoral redistricting process. In the request submitted on June 10, Enriquez is asking the Commission to provide details on the steps taken since the 2025 General Elections to redraw electoral boundaries. Enriquez says the public has a right to know whether the government remains on track to complete redistricting by the end of 2026, as previously promised. Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Elections and Boundaries Commission is required to respond to the request within 14 days. Enriquez says greater transparency in the redistricting process would help strengthen public confidence and ensure the exercise is carried out fairly and in accordance with the Constitution.
