International Coastal Cleanup Day

In observance of I, the Belize Fund for a Sustainable Future (BFSF) invited all environmental groups in Belize to participate in the International Coastal Cleanup competition. On October 2nd, BFSF announced the winners, having received only four video submissions highlighting the importance of keeping the coastline clean and protecting marine life. Out of the four submissions, Environmental Clubs from the Toledo District won first and second place. The Toledo Community College Environmental Club secured first place for the best video submission, and 14 members of the club will have the opportunity to visit the Hol Chan Marine Reserve. The Belize Territorial Volunteers won second place for collecting the most garbage, earning a cash prize of $200.
