Free Prior aAnd Informed Consent Order Signed After 3 Years

Most people will remember US Capital, the oil company granted permission to explore for oil in Toledo. However, before any work could begin in the Mayan villages, the company had to go through a rigorous consultation process known as Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), which took nearly three years to complete. On Sunday 2nd February, Santana became the last of the seven Mayan villages to sign off on the FPIC, and it was a historic moment. Government and NGO officials gathered in the village for the event.
