On November 7th, the NGC Pieni Branch hosted a discussion on the St. Vincent Block, commonly known as “Cerru.” The session provided valuable insights into the area’s history and the process through which it was reserved. The conversation centered on the ownership and trusteeship of the land, with a focus on clarifying a common misconception. While it is often believed that the land belongs to the entire Garifuna community, historical records suggest a more nuanced reality. It was highlighted during the discussion that the land was originally reserved by key Garifuna leaders, including José María Nuñez, Ambrosio Avilez, and Blessed Michela Daniels.
