Broken Manhole Repairs Finally Begin

For months, PGTV has remained vigilant in reporting on the broken manhole covers throughout Punta Gorda Town that continue to pose a serious safety hazard to residents. Now, with the Chocolate Festival weekend approaching, the Punta Gorda Town Council has finally begun replacing several of the damaged covers across town. But the question remains, is this simply a quick fix ahead of the busy festival weekend, or the beginning of a wider effort to address all hazardous manholes in the community? While some of the damaged manholes have now been repaired, several others still remain across town and continue to pose a safety risk. Residents are applauding the Town Council for taking action but are also urging them to complete the job and address the remaining hazards as soon as possible.
