Chiquibul National Park and Vaca Forest Reserve under heavy stress

The Chiquibul and Vaca National Park and Forest Reserve are not in Toledo District but on the West of our district. Our borders come close to these areas, so it is very important to the ecology of Toledo.  These two parks are some of Belize best prizes but unfortunately they are under attack by Guatemalans who have logged and raped these two protected areas.  After a recent trip, Tony Rath, a board member for Friends of Conservation and Development FCD, reported that they found several areas in the park that has been deforested by Guatemalans.  In his writing, he asked for the government of Belize to please put more efforts into protecting these two prize areas of our country.
