The Belize Fisheries Department announced the official opening of the Queen Conch season on Wednesday October 1st. This marks the start of the season which is currently scheduled to remain open until June 1, 2026. The public, including all fishers and vendors, is strongly advised to adhere strictly to all fisheries regulations governing the capture, possession, and sale of Queen Conch. Any conch harvested must have a shell length exceeding 7 inches. The market clean weight must be more than 3 ounces, and the fillet must weigh more than 2.75 ounces. Fishers are strictly prohibited from having diced conch meat in their possession. The public is advised that the season is subject to early closure. If the national conch production quota is realized before the scheduled date, the Fisheries Department will immediately declare the conch season closed.
