Just a few months ago, the ministry of Forestry Fisheries and Sustainable Development announced via Press release new laws against the setting of gillnets. One of those laws states that no gillnets should be set near the coast of Belize where there is a human community. Some people just choose to disobey the law. On Saturday, a couple of bikers biking off the Placencia coast videotaped some fishermen who apparently are not from the area setting their nets. The Fisheries Department was informed about the situation.
