Referendum set for Belize

On April 30, 2018, the Government of Belize announced that the Cabinet has set the date for the referendum where Belize will decide whether to take the dispute arising from Guatemala’s claim to Belize’s land and insular territories, and to the maritime areas pertaining to them, to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for final settlement. In accordance with the Special Agreement and its protocol, the referendum will be held on Wednesday, April 10th, 2019.
