Wednesday, September 30th, 2026 news broke that Tropic Air will be completely suspending its scheduled flights to Punta Gorda. Operations are set to cease effective November 1st, 2026. The announcement has sparked concern across Toledo. The Belize Tourism Industry Association’s Toledo Chapter pointing to the wider economic impact of losing air connectivity, not only for tourism, but also for businesses, residents, cargo, medical services, and other sectors that rely on regular air transportation. In response, BTIA Toledo called an emergency stakeholder meeting to discuss the situation, hear from businesses and community stakeholders, and explore possible alternatives and next steps as the October 31st deadline approaches.
