Yesterday Wednesday July 22nd, the People’s National Party traveled to the Belize District, where they distributed seedlings. The PNP wants the country to know that they are committed to promoting sustainable development across the country. Hundreds of seedlings were distributed to residents.
The BYRISE Summer Camp is now in its third year. The camp is unique because it not only teaches young people the fundamentals of basketball but also provides an after-school program designed to support students with their academics.
The WILD501 Exhibition made its final stop in Punta Gorda last week. The exhibition is currently on display at the Punta Gorda Welcome Center. WILD501 is an exhibition and virtual educational tool featuring videos and images created by Carol and Richard Foster. For more than 30 years, the couple has been documenting Belize’s rich wildlife and natural beauty through photography and filmmaking. Their work has been featured by National Geographic and the BBC.
The Dream Center, Toledo Faith Outreach Christian Center was honored to serve the Punta Gorda community during its outreach at Magoon Park. Through the generosity of supporters and volunteers, families received clothing, shoes, school supplies, Bibles, and other needed items.
Last week, we told you about the launch of the first-ever Kriol Summer Camp, where young people from Punta Gorda and the surrounding communities learned more about Kriol culture. One of the main highlights of the camp was teaching participants traditional drumming, Kriol vocabulary, and folk tales.
