ONE FEMALE IS FIRST ALCALDE OUT OF 78

On Saturday, 78 Alcaldes from the 39 communities in the Toledo District were sworn in at the Father Ring Parish Hall. For years, these communities that fall under the Communion Lands Rights elect Alcaldes to lead and administer justice within their community. On Saturday, they were officially sworn in to carry on their responsibilities in their respective villages for the next two years. Out of the 78 alcaldes, three of these are females. Panfilia Tzub holds the position of First Alcalde in Crique Jute, Monica Coc Magnisin is the Deputy Alcalde of Laguna Village, and Nela Pan is the Deputy Alcalde for San Lucas. During the event, Attorney General Magali Marin Young was present to swear in the Alcaldes, Commissioner of the High court, Paul Mahung, the Executive Council of the Toledo Alcalde Association, and Spokes Person of MLA Cristina Coc, and other invited guests.
