Last week the Belize Territorial Volunteers BTV, was on patrol between the Port Honduras Marine Reserve and the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve when they came upon a gillnet that was set illegally. The BTV members, wasted no time in pulling up the gillnet which had a bunch of prohibited species in it. Those included Coral Reefs, Parrot Fish and a Lobster with eggs. The public is reminded that setting gillnets in Belize waters is illegal and that taking lobsters with eggs is also illegal.
