On Sunday the Belize territorial volunteers made their 14th annual trip to the Sarstoon river to raise the Belizean flag on the Sarstoon Island. Before the BTV could enter the river, they were encountered by the Guatemalan armed forces who told them that they could not enter the river as the river belongs to Guatemala. Nevertheless, the BTV insisted that the island belongs to Belize and push their way through to the island where they sang the national anthem.
