Over the past two weeks tensions rose within the Mayan community over the free prior and informed consent order. Sunday, hundreds of people attended a meeting in the village of Laguna. The meeting was called by the Toledo Alcalde Association to discuss the recent developments around the Maya land rights case. We understand that at that meeting one of the speakers was calling for the removal of Mr. Greg Choc as Commissioner Of Indigenous Affairs. We will keep following this story.
