Social media event for African Emancipation Day.

August 1st Belize will be celebrating African Emancipation Day. Over the past decades, many Belizeans were pressing the government to declare this day a national holiday and finally it has happened. The reason for this holiday is to observe when slavery was abolished in Belize on August 1st 1838. To honor this day, there will be an ongoing social media event for everyone to be a part of. The goal of this event is to document how you are remembering your African ancestors by uploading either photos or videos to your social media outlet of choice. The only criteria is that you use the hash tag: #AfrikanEmancipationDayBelize”.
