Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Lillian Moriera from Punta Gorda town is the winner of the second annual Miss Yurumein National Contest.

The Miss Yurumein National Contest is a Garifuna Cultural Talent Show for women over 40 years old.

This Contest provides a forum where our more “matured” Garifuna women can display their creative talent.

A Show of this nature provides great entertainment and is generally well received by the audience.

This is the second year that the Contest is held for Garifuna women across the country.

This year it was held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Parish Hall in Belize City.

Second place in the contest was won by Gregoria Petillo of Belize City; third place went to Lavern Valerio of Seine Bight village.

For her prize Lilliam Moriera took home $700; Gregoria Petillo took home $400 and Lavern Valerio took home $300.
