Bandits, Verdes and San Pedro are winners in PLB football action

Monday, October 23, 2017. The Premiere League of Belize is the highest level of competitive football that is being played in Belize at this time; but getting updated statistics from this Football Federation of Belize entity can be a most frustrating exercise.

All of the teams taking part in the Premier League of Belize 2017-2018 opening season were scheduled to play this past weekend but PGTV has been informed that only three of those matches took place due to inclement weather.

PGTV can confirm that the Belmopan Bandits continued their winning ways by defeating their arch rivals Police United by a score of 5 goals to 1 in a game that was played at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.

Goals scored for the Bandits were by Jerome James at minute 47; Georgie Welcome scored twice at minute 50 and again at minute 76; Darwin Bermudez scored in the 56th minute while Jermaine Jones scored at minute 61 of the ballgame.

The lone goal for Police United FC was scored by Harrison Roches at minute 78.

Verdes FC vs BDF FC

In the game featuring Verdes FC and BDF FC, Verdes FC came out on the winning side, blanking BDF by a score of 2 to nil.

Goals scored for Verdes FC were by Jarret Davis at minute 22 and Elroy Kuylen at the 90th minute of the match.

At the Victor Sanchez Union Field, the Toledo Freedom Fighters played host to the San Pedro Pirates FC.

The visitors edged out the home team 4 goals to 3.

For the winning team, the San Pedro Pirates, goals were scored by Inri Gonzalez who scored twice, at the 10th and 69th minute respectively; Luis Mencia at minute 55 and Jesse Smith at minute 63.

For the Freedom Fighters, the goal scorers were Ralph Flores at minute 39; Mario Noralez at minute 43 and Allen Barillas at the 80th minute.

The standings at Week 11 of the 2017-2018 Opening Season sees the Belmopan Bandits leading the way with 9 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw.

Verdes FC is next with 7 wins, 3 losses and 2 draws.

Third is Police United FC with 6 ins, 4 losses and 1 draw.

Fourth place is BDF FC with 5 wins, 5 losses and 1 draw.

Among the top goal scores in the league are Danny Jiminez from Police United with 10 goals; Krisean Lopez from Wagiya with 8 goals and Alcides Thomas from Verdez FC with 7 goals.
