Immigration sweep nabs dozens of women

Immigration operation

June 22, 2017. The Immigration Department in conjunction with the Police Department this past weekend carried out special operations in Bella Vista village.

This led to the detention of over two dozen women, suspected of being in the country illegally.

The Director of Immigration told reporters in Belize City that the operation carried out on Sunday found that the women who were rounded up at a night establishment, did not have legal documents to be in the country and neither did they have temporary work permits to be employed at the bars.

The women were processed through the Magistrate’s Court and on Tuesday, PGTV observed many of them in town, awaiting their turn to go before the Magistrate.
