Million dollar infrastructure project brings paved streets to Hopeville

March 15, 2017. Residents of the Hopeville area of Punta Gorda town are the beneficiaries of a million dollar streets and infrastructure project.

The project, which included drainage and street markings, is part of the Municipal Development Project, implemented by the Social Investment Fund.

The official ribbon-cutting, marking the completion of this phase of the project was held on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Deputy Mayor Ashton McKenzie, the project has brought some much needed relief to residents of the surrounding areas.

Executive Director of Belize Social Investment Fund William Lamb Junior, explains that the scope of the works carried out in the Hopeville area as well as Ryan Pennel and Lucile Melendrez Boulevard, ensures that the beneficiaries will enjoy improved conditions for a good while.

The official ribbon-cutting was done by Minister of Economic Development Erwin Contreras, Mayor Fern Gutierrez and the head of SIF William Lamb, Junior.

We note that following yesterday’s official ceremony, many residents of Hopeville called PGTV expressing their disappointment that they were not invited to the opening. Many said they did not even know about the event.
