January 30, 2017. The nation of Belize held its collective breath on Sunday night as the 65th Miss Universe Pageant got underway in Manila, Philippines.
Social media was abuzz heading into yesterday’s global event as Rebecca Rath, Belize’s representative in the Miss Universe Pageant, prepared to take the stage.
She had been getting rave reviews and everyone at home within reach of a computer keyboard was voting and sharing and “bigging up” Bex.
She looked splendid in her debut on the world stage and the cameras loved Bex as she got some major screen time during the front portion of the pageant.
But then came the announcement of the top thirteen ladies who would move on.
And, sadly, Bex was not on that list.
While most people vowed to switch the channel, the show went on and in the end it came down to France and Haiti.
In the end, France’s representative, 24 year old Iris Mittenaere, captured the crown. First runner up is Raquel Pelissier of Haiti.
