Punta Gorda, TOLEDO. January 24th 2017. This past weekend Punta Gorda saw thousands of visitors from all over Belize and the Caribbean.
The reason for the huge influx of visitors was the Methodist synod for the Belize-Honduras district.
We’ll get to that story shortly, but first we’ll touch on the curious story of a house in the middle of the street in Punta Gorda town.
PG residents have been commenting on this situation for quite a while now and with the arrival of the visitors, even they began asking the same question: what is the purpose of a house in the middle of the street? Many visitors along with locals have consistently commented that the house makes no sense in the middle of the street.
Well, PGTV today reached out to the Punta Gorda Town Council for some answers.
Via a telephone conversation, the Town Administrator Delmar Moguel explained that the house which was used as an office facility when the market was being constructed, has now been acquired by the PG Town Council.
The plan, according to Moguel is to remove the house from its current location and placed on a lot in PG and then raffled off to residents later in the year.
Moguel says that the process has started already to locate that lot where the house will relocated and the area cleared up.
And what is the plan for the area? Moguel says the intention is to set up vending spaces for people who do not have stalls at the market.
We’ll keep following the story.
