Central Park, PUNTA GORDA. Tuesday, January 17, 2017. The Rotary Club of Punta Gorda today spearheaded the painting of the base of the clock tower at PG Central Park.

According to organizers of the community outreach, the purpose of the repainting project was to return the base of the clock tower to its original color, minus the commercial advertising that was plastered around the structure.

The repainting exercise was given the green light by the Punta Gorda Town Council.

Members of the Rotary Club of Punta Gorda solicited assistance from the local business community including the two commercial banks in the area for funding to repaint the base of the clock tower.

The cost of the project is about $1,000.

A group of about six Belize Defence Force soldiers spent about an hour painting the base of the clock tower, starting at around 11:30 am.
